Project 05 / 2024
Mono Position
Site-based live sessions / music / short film

How does a place enter a live recording?
Mono Position moved performances out of the studio and into a coffeehouse, a barbershop and a street collector’s cart. Voices, traffic, tools and daily routines became part of the recordings and shaped each short film.

Location as collaborator
The sessions were recorded in active places rather than controlled studios. Each location contributed its own rhythm, voices and interruptions.
Three positions
The coffeehouse, collector’s cart and barbershop create three different relationships between performer, audience and the surrounding city.
Short-film form
The camera observes the social character of each place as closely as the performance. The same musical practice changes with every location.
